About these figures

2024 province and district populations, male/female counts and provincial summary indicators: PNG National Statistical Office, 2024 National Population Census Final Figures, page 16, “10. CHIMBU PROVINCE”, supplied by CDA. The source names Karimui-Nomane as “Karimui” and Sina Sina-Yonggomugl as “Sina Sina Yonggomugl”. 2011 counts and households: supplied NSO Ward Population Profile, pages 31–38. Current LLG names: PNG Department of Finance. District densities use 2024 population divided by the sum of LLG areas in CDA’s supplied area screenshot, grouped by census district.

The screenshot’s “Area sqkm” column is interpreted as square metres, since dividing by 10,000 matches its rounded hectare values. Dividing by 1,000,000 gives km²; calculations use unrounded areas. The 20 supplied LLG areas total 6,130.22 km², differing from the previously referenced provincial area of 6,112 km². *The provincial density of 75 people/km² remains the official NSO 2024 indicator, not a recalculation from this area list. The screenshot’s measurement date and boundary basis were not supplied.

The supplied 2024 page does not include LLG or ward figures, households or languages. These will be added once verified figures are released by the National Statistical Office or supplied by CDA. The 2011 explorer retains the census’s 20 LLG areas, including Kerowagi Urban, and historical names such as Mitnande, Tabare and Upper/Lower Koronigl; these are not assumed to match the current 19-LLG listing.
